The sport has come a long way from its origins in the Bronx. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced significant policy changes to help veterans experiencing homelessness. The new regulations ensure that veterans receiving service-connected disability benefits are not ineligible for supportive housing projects supported by project-based rental assistance through the HUD-Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program.

Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are spending their first full day as running mates in Wisconsin and Michigan. The trip is aimed at shoring up support among the younger, diverse, labor-friendly voters who were instrumental in helping President Joe Biden win the 2020 election. That coalition has shown signs of fraying over Biden's handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict. Leaders of the Arab American community and key unions say they are encouraged by Harris' choice of a running mate.

Monday's announcement paves the way for the African American Sports & Entertainment Group to build in a long-neglected part of the San Francisco Bay Area city. The group intends to keep the Oakland Arena, and has discussed hotels, a restaurant row and housing. The purpose it to revitalize the area by Interstate 880, bringing jobs and housing to residents of East Oakland.

Harris has chosen Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate, looking to strengthen the Democratic ticket in Midwestern states. She'll introduce Walz at a rally Tuesday evening in Philadelphia.
