Tiger Woods' Silence After Minor Car Accident Fuels Rumors, Speculation

(NNPA) - Champion golfer Tiger Woods was injured in a car crash near his Windermere, Fla. home in the wee hours of Nov. 27, according to police reports, but he's not talking about it.
Florida Highway Patrol responded to an accident involving the 33-year-old champion golfer. According to police reports, Woods turned out of his driveway in his black Cadillac SUV and hit a fire hydrant before hitting a neighbor's tree around 2:30 a.m.
Woods was transported to a local hospital but was treated and released with only minor facial and lip lacerations, according to reports. According to police at NNPA press time, the single-car accident was still under investigation. Charges could also be pending, although Woods and his wife, Elin, had declined three interviews with the Florida Highway Patrol.
Police said the accident was not alcohol-related and legally, Woods doesn't have to make a statement to police given that it was a single car crash. But, Woods' silence has fueled widespread speculation on what was actually going on, including rumors about a domestic dispute.
Widespread reports quote a statement issued Sunday on his web site saying, "This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me … I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again."
