The public is invited to join the Genealogical Forum of Oregon’s African American Special Interest group Saturday, Jan, 15, from noon-2 p.m. Pacific Time. The speaker will be Omer Jean Winborn, who will discuss "The Underground Railroad in Michigan, with a focus on Washtenaw County."

Winborn is a retired educator, and has been a family history researcher for more than 30 years. She is the Vice President of Fred Hart Williams Genealogical Society, a board member of Washtenaw Genealogical Society, and the founder and co-chair of Washtenaw African American Genealogical Society. She teaches Introduction to Genealogy and Beginning African American Genealogy at Washtenaw Community College. She has a Podcast featured on Michigan Public Radio, Eastern Michigan Public Radio, and Halifax Public Radio in England (DNA Testing Results for African Americans).
