DUII Patrols Set to Arrest Impaired Drivers

 A nationwide traffic safety campaign will bring out police officers to arrest impaired drivers over the holiday period, Nov. 22 through Dec. 2.

Officers will take part in enhanced DUII focused patrols on the lookout  for impaired drivers. The goal of this campaign is to save lives by removing these dangerous drivers from the streets.

Drunk driving, drugged driving, impaired driving, or "buzzed" driving all have the potential of claiming lives. This can lead to offenders being arrested and serving time in jail. Impaired driving is not an accident; it is a deliberate action that places the driver and others at substantial risk of serious injury or death.

The campaign is designed to deter people from driving while impaired by implementing high visibility enforcement and increasing the number of officers on the streets who are assertively seeking to identify and stop impaired drivers.

Prevent dangerous impaired driving:

Stop alcohol service long before the event is over.

Encourage guests to drink water and other non-alcoholic beverages during your event.
Prepare for guests to stay the night or assist with calling for cab service.
Choose a responsible designated driver.
Serve plenty of food to lessen the effects of alcohol.
Report impaired drivers by calling 911.
