Rev. Marva J. Edwards was one of six women to receive a Women of Achievement Award on Friday March 19 at the Hilton Hotel in Vancouver, WA.
The theme for this annual event was Writing Women into History and is sponsored by Clark College and the Clark County YWCA. It honors women and young women who have contributed to the community of Vancouver through leadership, volunteerism, and service.
Rev. Marva, as she is known, is the founder and pastor of New Life A.M.E. Zion Church in Vancouver. When asked what inspires her, the reply was "People, I love people."
In addition to her duties as a pstor, she the First Vice President of the NAACP, Chief Operating Officer of African American Rites of Passage, and has worked with the Domestic Violence, Hate Crimes and Incidents groups all in the City of Vancouver.
